Kathryn: “The last week feels like a dream! I can’t believe Bee and I show jumped clear – I actually thought we’d had the second last down because he rubbed it when I got a bit too close and he does jump with his legs a bit low, but we were lucky.
“It’s been an amazing week, matching the weather, and it hasn’t really sunk in yet that Bee and I have jumped a double clear at Badminton. That both the horses, and both of us, have Badminton completions and are fit and well is more than I dared hope for a week ago.”
Gio: “I’m happy to complete, of course – after not finishing for the last two times – but I’m a little disappointed because it wasn’t really the result I was looking for. Having said that, it was Oplitas’s first ever 4* so I can’t help but be happy with him; he will have learnt a lot, and hopefully we will have a higher placing next time 😉
“I’m over the moon for Kathryn. She rode really well and deserves her amazing double clear. With luck she will have done enough to catch the eye of the Canadian selectors for Rio. I’m really proud of her, and of both the horses who will now have a few well deserved weeks in the field.
“It’s now back to reality, with a bit of a bump; riding young horses, paying bills etc. Badminton already seems like a long time ago!”
